A 2nd Order View on Why COVID19 is Not the Real Threat to Your Business Future

Fear-based reactions to COVID19 can prevent you from making quality decisions for 2nd Order, evolutionary changes to your business.

This excerpt from a webinar conducted by Marvin Oka and Dr. Gary Saliba shows a simplified influence diagram of the key systemic dynamics impacting the quality of your decisions and actions in the current COVID19 environment.

The design elements of the simplified influence diagram are a combination of 2nd Order systems thinking, Generative Learning and Generative inner Work  principles, and insights gleaned from Neuro-Behavioural Modelling.

Generative Learning and Critical Thinking in a 'Post-Truth' World

Generative Critical Thinking is an essential competency for 2nd Order change agents, especially as we live in a world filled with what social and political commentators call 'post-truth' politics.

Oxford Dictionary named 'post-truth' as their 'Word of the Year' in 2016 and defined it as "Relating to or denoting circumstances in which objective facts are less influential in shaping public opinion than appeals to emotion and personal belief".

In this excerpt from a conversation between Marvin Oka and Dr. Peter Thompson, they discuss the value of Generative Critical Thinking for 2nd Order change agents in today's world of unchallenged 1st Order narratives.

'Having a stroke was the best thing that ever happened to me.'

Neuro-Behavioural Modelling (NBM) applications for stroke survivors with Bill Gasiamis

Our next Certified Professional Neuro-Behavioural Modellers' online meetup (see date for the meetup below) will feature the NBM research of the amazing Bill Gasiamis.

Bill is a stroke survivor who now helps other stroke survivors and their carers in the recovery process. At first, he thought he was the only one who truly believed his stroke was the best thing that ever happened to him. Much to his surprise, he found others who also were able to generatively reframe their experience into something profoundly positive.

Here is short excerpt of Bill explaining his Neuro-Behavioural Modelling research project.

You can find out more about Bill and his work at www.recoveryafterstroke.com

And a big THANK YOU to Anita Kropacsy and Phil Volkofsky

At our August online meetup, Anita and Phil presented the commercial version of their NBM research into high performing teams operating in VUCA business environments. Their findings highlighted key categories of competencies for optimising interpersonal relations, communications and team culture/ethos that enable ongoing team alignment, agility and performance under VUCA conditions. For more information on their work, contact Anita at [email protected]

Networking request:

Does anyone know of someone with influence in the Aged Care industry that we can talk to about a possible 2nd Order systems mapping and Neuro-Behavioural Modelling research project?

Dr. Gary Saliba and Marvin Oka are exploring the potential for a 2nd Order NBM research project applying complex adaptive systems thinking and mapping to the Aged Care sector within the current COVID environment. If anyone can provide or connect us with a referral, please contact us at [email protected]. Thank you.
